Steven Grant Darnell, 50, of Mt. Pleasant, MI passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Mt. Pleasant.  Steve was born Thursday, August 4, 1966 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Floyd Daniel Darnell and Dorothy Marie Smith. 

     Steve was a direct care and maintenance worker for McBride’s Quality Care for over 20 years.  He spent most of his life in the area. Steve enjoyed being with his family and friends, playing card, dice games, and watching his favorite sports team, the Detroit Tigers.  He had a passion for gardening and his yard was always a testament to his skills.  In remembering Steve, we would be remiss not to mention the time devoted and loving care that he gave to his mother before her passing.

     Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Ken Darnell, Kevin and Kathy Darnell, Diane and Tim Ellis, Kathy Darnell and Cindy Collinsgru, Tom Darnell, and Brian and Evelyn Darnell; eleven nieces and nephews and many great grand nieces and nephews.  He was also survived by his longtime friend and roommate Bill Camp.  Steve was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Dan and Jeff; sisters, Debbie and Tammy; and a nephew, Kevin Matthew Darnell.

     Funeral services celebrating Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from the Rowley Funeral Home with Jean Thrush officiating.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 am until the time of services.  Cremation will take place after the service with interment of the cremated remains in Chippewa Township Cemetery.  Friends desiring to remember Steve with a memorial contribution may wish to consider the needs of the family.  Envelopes are available at the Rowley Funeral Home.
